The first time I tried the commuter train from Bogor to Jakarta was a total torture.
In the economic class, there was air conditioner which didn’t function so well, so many people crowded in one cabinet that there was a moment I almost fainted. On the train, street vendors were off the hook, selling snacks, drinks and any other stuff that you can imagine, while there were people smoking to destroy your lung. Each train was supposed to have two cabinets for women, but most of the time people ignore the rule, so you see weird men sitting with you.
I did not ever want to do it again until one year later in February 2014 it was a total transform.
All the street vendors are evicted!!!
Strictly smoking prohibited!!!
No men in the women cabinet!!!
Guards in the women cabinet to behave people!!!
I mean the train price is from Rp. 2,500 to Rp. 5,000, but I think for what the Indonesian people having for the train system it is definitely worth it. For Bogor train station, the small market in the station hall is tear down and make to a spacious clean parking lot
The ticket change to a scanning card and polices guarded on the entrance.
There are also broadcasting in the station, telling you when the train will go and which platform you should go.
For the cabinet specially for women, during the weekends, when there are less commuters to go work in Jakarta, I can always get a seat.
